Sandblasted
Tumbling is vibrating the slabs with some special stones to give the surface a textured and antique look whereby the edges are rounded and imperfect. Sandblast finish can only be applied to marbles, limestones, and travertine slabs.
Bush Hammered
A mechanical round hammering process produces textured surfaces with regular contiguous hollows, 1-3 mm wide and deep, arranged in a grid pattern varying from subtle to rough. A highly textured finish is best used for external applications such as paving or walkways.
Acids Treated
Stone surfaces are treated by acids to give them a spectacular antique look.
Hond
A semi-smooth stone finish. Hond finish has a matte or satin finish for a softer, more subdued look, achieved by filling the pores of the surface using some polishing abrasive stones stopping just short of the last stage of polishing. Also, note that honding is not recommended on very dark or black stones because it often results in an uneven finish.
Flamed
Suitable for exterior and interior commercial flooring, it has been desirable for many years because of its well-known slip resistance. It is similar to a bush-hammered finish but has a more random textured surface that can be different for each type of granite depending on the crystalline make up of the stone. Most granites can be flamed along with certain limestones and marbles
Brushed
An antique stone finish is produced by continuous scrubbing of the surface with soft-ended wire brushes.
Polished
A shiny mirror-like finish results by filling the pores of the rough saw-cut surface by treating and grinding the surface using some polishing abrasive stones.
Marble, limestone & granite slabs are polished by large polishing machines which progressively grind the rough saw-cut surface giving it a spectacular mirror-like finish.
Leathered
Leathering starts with a honed surface and adds texture. Additionally, it closes the pores of the stone and retains the color better. A leathered finish has a soft sheen but is not as reflective as a polished surface. On a very dark material such as absolute black granite, leathering is preferred to honding because the resulting finish is very uniform, preserves the majority of the stone’s color, and is much easier to maintain than a porous hond surface.
Split Face
It has a rough irregular surface that is created by splitting the stone along its natural grain. This process exposes the natural layers and texture of the marble, giving it a distinctive, three dimensional look.
Our marble & granite finishes are suitable for a variety of applications, including residential, commercial, and outdoor spaces. From elegant countertops to durable flooring and stunning exterior surfaces.
